Statement from MPA Executive Director Jesse Graham:
"Today the Maine Legislature reconvenes to address some of the record number of vetoes issued by Governor Paul LePage.
The question today isn't where LePage stands. He has already chosen extreme ideology over common sense on a number of critical issues for Maine people. The question is whether Republican legislators will stand with him.
Will they allow multinational corporations to continue avoiding paying their fair share by hiding profits in offshore tax havens? Will they reject the local food hubs that would boost Maine farmers and our economy? Will they once again reject federal health care funding, guaranteeing that thousands of Mainers will suffer and some will die?
I guarantee you that we will do everything we can to make sure those legislators who stand with LePage today fall with him in the election. Today is a day Mainers will remember in November."
