Caregiving

Maine people are, on average, the oldest in the nation. More than half of Mainers have taken on family caregiving roles, either for children or elders and caregiving work is the fastest-growing career in the state.

Despite this need, both family and professional caregivers have little support for or recognition of their work.

MPA campaigned for Question 1, the universal home care referendum, in 2018 and continues to advocate for broad, structural change to ensure that everyone can receive the care they need and care workers can earn a fair wage.
