MPA Dinner

Please join us in celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Maine People's Alliance.

The annual MPA Rising Tide Awards Dinner will be held Saturday, June 9th at Woodford Congregational Church in Portland and are thrilled to announce that the keynote speaker for the event will be Congressman Barney Frank!

Frank is the ranking member of the House Financial Services Committee, where he helped pass the "Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act" and has been a progressive voice for consumer rights and Wall Street accountability.

Frank is also outspoken on civil rights issues and is considered the most prominent openly gay politician in the country. In January, he announced that he and his longtime partner Jim Ready, who hails from Ogunquit, Maine, will soon be married.

Frank plans to retire from Congress next year after having served 16 terms as one of the most eloquent and passionate progressive members of the House.

MPA's annual dinner is a chance to celebrate the progressive leaders who have worked hard to make a difference over the past 12 months.

Among those receiving awards are Senator Justin Alfond of Portland and a number of volunteers who went above and beyond to help win the Yes on 1 campaign to protect same-day voter registration. These include Jim Will of Cape Elizabeth, Scott Murray of Portland, Heidi Brooks of Lewiston, Kevin Simpson of Auburn, Tim Conmee of Orrington, Dick Bissell of Bangor, Wil Tippi of Mount Vernon and Rachel Sukeforth of Litchfield.

This year's dinner will also be a chance for hundreds of us to recommit ourselves to the fight for justice and social change. We have an incredibly important election year ahead of us and it's time to start working to win on our issues and win back our state.

Tickets are $30 or $500 for a table of ten. You can order your tickets online here or call our Portland office at 207-797-0967 to order by phone.

Hope you see you there!
