Donate Now What does membership mean? MPA has political power because 28,000 Mainers support our work by making contributions each year. The fact that we have hundreds of dues-paying members in almost every legislative district across our state means that decision-makers pay attention to our opinion on important issues. In addition to giving us political power, members of MPA can expect:
We promise to minimize the amount of paper we send to your mailbox and we won’t flood you with too many emails or phone calls. We’ll contact you when we have exciting news to share, if we want to hear your opinion about an issue or candidate, or when we urgently need your support for a campaign. Your membership matters to us: almost 90% of MPA’s funding comes from direct public support (as opposed to grants). Planned Giving Many people underestimate their assets and assume that there’s no need to do estate planning. A person’s worldly possessions include more than just money, stocks and bonds. Equity in a home, personal and group life insurance, deferred employee benefits, the value of a business, real estate investment and other tangible possessions all count, too. Beyond all this is the simple fact that estate planning allows supporters of modest means to make a substantial gift while providing for their families. Have you already included MPA in your will? Let us know! We are forming a special Bequest Society and we are currently compiling a list of founding members. Contact: Is my contribution tax deductible? Because we work to change laws and public policies, contributions to the Maine People's Alliance are not tax-deductible. If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution, please give to our sister organization, the Maine People's Resource Center. Contributions can be mailed to MPRC, 68 Bishop Street, Suite 1, Portland, ME 04103. Our privacy policy MPA has a longstanding policy that we will never sell our membership list to any other non-profit, business or individual. Your name and contact information stay with us, and us alone! |

We are going to make Maine the first state to pass a universal single payer healthcare plan! We are fighting Anthem’s greed and protecting Dirigo Health! We are working to expand affordable housing in Maine and to pass a statewide affordable housing trust fund! We'll always work hard to protect Maine from extreme initiatives like Palesky and TABOR! We are working hard to hold chemical companies accountable and to prevent human exposure to unnecessary toxic chemicals! We’ll always fight handouts to the rich and will work hard to prevent repeal of Estate Tax! We make sure thousands of Mainers get out to vote each year! We are fighting to ensure Medicare Part D is designed for seniors—not drug companies! We are protecting Mainers’ right to the initiative and referendum process! We are stronger together than we are alone; 28,000 Mainers have power together to make a better Maine!
